Backed by Scientific Findings
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is an effective treatment for depression. At the core of CBT is the assumption that a person’s mood is directly related to his or her thoughts and behavior. By learning coping skills to change patterns of thinking and behaving that have resulted in depressed mood, individuals can overcome depression, while increasing reliance on their own skills and abilities, thus enhancing self-efficacy. Leveraging Dr. Richard A. Brown’s expertise from over 30 years of clinical research in health behavior change, our first initiatives will translate evidence-based mental health treatments into mobile health apps for smoking cessation. Health Behavior Solutions has been awarded $450,000 in funding for these efforts in the form of two Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants from the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
